Grade 9 Royal is Best Delegate in MUN
South Mansfield College boasts of its latest achievement in the area of Model United Nations (MUN) simulation.
Last February 20-21, 2021, our high school students joined and actively participated in the First SGEN Model United Nations (MUN) together with hundreds of students from the Southville Global Education Network (SGEN) schools namely Southville International School and Colleges (SISC), Stonyhurst Southville International School (SSIS) Batangas and Malarayat campuses, and the Asian SEED Academy of Technology (ASAT).
After the 2-day event, Marie Gabrielle Opiña (Grade 9 Integrity) was adjudged as Best Delegate for showing her eloquence in the speeches and her proficiency and wide knowledge in the parliamentary discussions. Abby is a member of the Human Rights Council representing Germany.
Model United Nations is an authentic simulation of the UN General Assembly, UN Security Council, or other multilateral body, which introduces students to the world of diplomacy, negotiation, and decision-making. Students take the shoes of the ambassadors to debate current global issues, prepare draft resolutions, plot strategy, negotiate with supporters and adversaries, resolve conflicts, and navigate the UN’s rules of procedure. On it’s 17th year, the Southville International School and Colleges Model United Nations (SISCMUN), in collaboration with Southville Global Education Network (SGEN) Allied Schools, spearheaded the first ever SGEN Model United Nations Conference.
Abby’s team was coached by Ms. Winona Morales, Sir Jelo Derilo, and Sir Kit del Mundo.
South Mansfield College - Home of the Soaring Royals is proud of its students, teachers and staff's achievement!
