High school students shine in NCR journalism contest

Last October 19, 2019, eleven delegates from South Mansfield College went to Philippine Normal University Manila to compete for Liyab 2019 – 17th NCR-wide Journalism Press. Two of our high school students bagged First Place out of 150 contestants across the National Capital Region.

 The SMC delegation was composed of Matthew Gonzales (Grade 9) and Fatima Rabanera (Grade 10) for News Writing, Esther Grace Pre (Grade 11) for Sports Writing, Miguel Secuando (Grade 11) and Armelia Santos (Grade 10) for Editorial Writing, Aaliya Delen (Grade 11) and Allysa Jao (Grade 10) for Editorial Cartooning, Abbygail Barrion (Grade 11) for Photojournalism and Heleina Hao (Grade 11) for Copy reading/Headlining.

 The team was trained by Ms. Alogena Villasoto and Ms. Thessa Ansano (Royal Scroll Advisers), Mr. Amiel Yacon, Ms. Janis Manzano, Ms. Amina Tan, Ms. Mya Berroya (English Department) and Ms. Judievine Celorico (Filipino Department).
